Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated ILS (Integrated Logistics Support) Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team in the maritime industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the long-term supportability, maintainability, and reliability of electrical, control, and automation systems on our vessels. This role involves integrating logistics considerations into the design and development phases, as well as managing support elements throughout the vessel's lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrical engineering principles, coupled with practical experience in ILS methodologies within the maritime sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- ILS Analysis & Planning:
- Conduct various ILS analyses, including but not limited to, Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RMA) analysis, Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis, and Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) for electrical, control, and automation systems.
- Develop and implement ILS plans and strategies for new vessel designs and upgrades, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., IMO, Classification Societies).
- Identify and assess logistics support requirements for electrical and control equipment, including spare parts, special tools, test equipment, and support infrastructure.
- Design for Supportability:
- Collaborate closely with design and engineering teams to influence electrical system designs for optimal maintainability, accessibility, and supportability.
- Provide input on design specifications to minimize life cycle costs and maximize operational availability of electrical and control systems.
- Review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and technical documentation to ensure ILS considerations are addressed.
- Technical Documentation & Training:
- Develop and manage comprehensive technical documentation, including maintenance manuals, operating procedures, fault-finding guides, and parts catalogs for electrical and control systems.
- Identify training requirements for operators and maintainers of electrical systems and contribute to the development of training materials and programs.
- Spares & Provisioning:
- Determine optimal spare parts holdings and develop provisioning plans based on LORA, LCC, and operational requirements for electrical components.
- Manage and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) for electrical and control systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness for logistics purposes.
- Supplier Coordination:
- Liaise with equipment manufacturers and suppliers of electrical, control, and automation systems to ensure ILS data, documentation, and support deliverables are provided in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Evaluate supplier support capabilities and ensure their products meet ILS standards.
- Lifecycle Management:
- Monitor in-service performance of electrical and control systems, analyzing maintenance data and identifying trends to recommend improvements.
- Participate in obsolescence management activities for electrical and electronic components, proposing solutions for parts replacement or system upgrades.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to ILS processes and methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 4 years of progressive experience in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) within the maritime, naval, or offshore industry.
- Proven expertise in electrical, control, and automation systems commonly found on vessels (e.g., power generation and distribution, navigation and communication systems, integrated bridge systems, propulsion control, alarm and monitoring systems, PLC/SCADA).
- Strong understanding of ILS principles, methodologies, and standards (e.g., MIL-STD-1388, Def Stan 00-600, S3000L, S2000M).
- Experience with LORA, LCC, FMECA, and RMA analysis tools and techniques.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., electrical CAD software, MS Office Suite, ILS specific software if applicable).
