Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager to join our dynamic finance team. This role will combine advanced accounting responsibilities with supervisory and mentorship duties, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to both the accuracy of our financial reporting and the development of our accounting staff. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of GAAP, excellent analytical skills, and a proven track record of managing and mentoring junior accountants.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.  
    • Conduct variance analysis and provide insightful commentary on financial performance.
    • Assist with the preparation and coordination of audits.
    • Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts.
  • General Ledger Management:
    • Oversee and manage the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions.
    • Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
    • Maintain fixed asset records and calculate depreciation.
  • Management & Supervision:
    • Supervise, mentor, and train junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support.
    • Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations prepared by junior staff.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
    • Delegate tasks effectively and monitor team performance.
    • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to junior staff.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Document accounting procedures and workflows.
    • Stay up-to-date on changes in accounting regulations and best practices.
  • Other Duties:
    • Assist with special projects as assigned.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial information.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or similar.
  • 7-10 + years of progressive accounting experience, with at least [Number] years in a senior accountant role.
  • Proven experience in supervising and mentoring junior accounting staff.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems 
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and complex formulas.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
